It is my instinct that the theatre has always survived on mavericks – people with a passion for the theatre who go their own way.”

"PRODUCERS ARE THE ALCHEMISTS OF THE THEATRE".

Arts Council of England.

If you've ever wanted to start your own theatre company, or train as a producer, or produce events, or be a self-producing artist, then you have come to the right place.

If you work in the performing arts as an actor, writer, director, stage manager, designer or on lights, sound, props or costume, there have always been many books, resources and courses to help learn your craft and skill.  And yet until very recently, there has been LITTLE OR NO INFORMATION on how you can become a producer.  Now there is!

In 2008, Birkbeck College at the University of London, created the first dedicated M.A. in Creative Theatre Producing.  Since then, universities and some drama schools have started theatre producer training, but they only generally offer an expensive M.A. or M.F.A. often taught by academics, or those with no actual experience of producing.  Our Academy Diploma course director, Nick Hennegan has just that... an M.A. in Creative Producing from the University of London... but has worked in the arts for over 40 years and produced over 100 shows and events, at all scales and all over the world.

So although the established courses are great if you want a formal, higher qualification, the good news is THERE IS NOW A MORE AFFORDABLE ALTERNATIVE, run, not by academics, but by 'real' theatre and event producers and practitioners. Many of our guest lecturers and tutors teach on the University and Drama School M.A. and M.F.A. courses.  The new Diploma In Creative Producing for Theatre and Live Events, is based on solid professional experience and included in the fee is a trip to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe - the world's biggest open arts festival.

Our Diploma Course is tutored and guest lectured by some of the biggest and most successful names in the theatre producing business, including Simon Riley, Katy Lipson, Will Brenton, Julius Green, Joseph Smith, Stage One, John Adams and others.

So if you've ever wanted to start your own theatre company, or train as a producer, or produce events, or be a self-producing artist, then you have come to the right place. Learn about contracts, creatives, copyright, funding, finding actors, directors, writers, venues, tours, plays, parties and payment.  Get tuition from some of the top theatre producers and businesses practitioners in the West End, U.K regions and from around the world.

There are two options and a 'sampler' session:
