Freelance / Starting 1 day a week / Cloud-based working, 

The Maverick Academy is part of the award winning, not-for-profit charity the Maverick Theatre Company. Launched in 1994, Maverick has produced hundreds of shows at all levels and is dedicated to increasing access to the arts - particularly theatre. The company has disrupted many theatrical conventions and in October 2020 launched the world’s first Diploma in Creative Producing For Theatre And Live Events - led by producer Nick Hennegan and offering MA level tuition in an accessible, part-time, 14 week course, using top, world-beating professional producers and practitioners as lecturers. The Academy now seeks to engage a freelance practitioner to undertake Marketing, Communications and Social media and to raise awareness of the programmes across the UK and internationally; to build connections with wider networks.

We seek a self-motivated individual who, on their own initiative, will initiate and find new unexpected routes.

The interconnected projects needing marketing are:

a) Attract recruits/interest for the Diploma in Creative Producing (DipCP).

b) Build awareness of Maverick Theatre and the Academy with networks, attracting diverse engagement in the UK and internationally.

c) Promote a new writing Diploma programme starting 2023. (more info at interview)

d) Launch internationally a programme of masterclasses and events.


The Detail: Initially 1 day per week, £100 per day, for 1 month on trial, then 3 months at £120 per day with the intention to continue into the future with other new projects. You work from your home/base. Chosen day to suit. Weekly check in meetings (Zoom) with Maverick and opportunity to attend some Diploma and other events such as the Creative Producers Club.

Deadline - To start ASAP.

The work involves expanding networks and listings, planning a social media campaign, S.E.O., writing press releases and emails, sending out information, talking to people by zoom or phone and keeping clear records using Excel/Numbers.  It will not suit someone for whom these communication tools are a challenge. A good standard of written English is an advantage.
